Tax Walk
The tax walk is the first of its kind in the University of Ibadan organized by The Tax Club, UI in collaboration with FIRS and the Oyo State Internal Revenue Service. The program involves members of the club in customized t-shirts propagating tax and tax compliance, walking the streets of Ibadan to enlighten/sensitize members of the informal sector on tax, taxation, the benefits of tax compliance and other tax related matters.
The walk is in form of tax awareness within our local community. Members of the club undergo a training to guide them on how to address the target audience; answer questions put forth by them and get them adequately informed about tax as it relates to them.
Tax Watch
Tax Watch is an annual event of The Tax Club, University of Ibadan. It is the club’s biggest event of the year. With the first Tax Watch in 2017, setting the pace for a lager forum to create tax awareness. And over the years, top renowned tax professionals have graced the event, sharing their knowledge on various areas, aimed at enlightening the audience on tax and tax matters as it affects various sectors of the society, the role of taxation as a vehicle for national development and the need for tax compliance.
The program also features representatives of tax clubs from different universities making presentations on salient topics on taxation. The purpose is to encourage students to research and showcase the knowledge they have garnered from the research. It also features speeches by keynote speakers and brain teasing competitions.
Tax Professional
In light of our vision to be the leading tax advocacy organization contributing to the attainment of an absolutely tax conscious society, we organize workshops, competitions and mentoring sessions to enlighten Nigerian youths and the society at large on the importance of taxation. The club is committed to training seasoned tax professionals. This has informed the planning of our mentoring program tagged “Tax professionals”.
Tax professionals is a mentoring session geared towards providing members of the Tax Club, University of Ibadan with an in-depth knowledge about taxation as a profession and career choice. It is targeted to provide tax enthusiasts with practical insight into the tax profession and it is a medium to broaden the knowledge of our members and other tax enthusiasts on taxation as a profession.
Tax Seminar & Webinars
Tax Seminars are held from time to time to enlighten our members of matters arising in taxation as it affects the players going forward, and also to educate our members on various aspects of tax that’s still abstract through quality interactions.
For times where our intended speakers can’t be available physically, Webinars are held to bridge that gap, there’s a constant need for us and most importantly our members to stay on track by organizing webinars to prepare our members for life after school and career prospects in taxation. By focusing on the positives and opportunities the Tax sector can provide.
